The story focuses on a young, married couple, Alex and Chris, who are struggling to have a baby and start a family. Then one day, one of Chris' past mistake's is revealed. He cheated on his wife. The story will follow the couple as they deal with this betrayal, go through separation, divorce, and somehow work there way back to each other despite all other of life's problems that are thrown at them, such as death, an evil in-law that has been plotting the demise of the couple throughout their entire relationship, babies, work, friendships, and more. Will love really conquer all?

Paul Wesley plays Christopher Collins, who is a very successful architect that comes from a very rich and privileged family. He has lived a very sheltered and happy life, with little to complain about except for the fact that his mother and wife don't get along and he can't seem to get his wife pregnant. In a moment of weakness and a lot of alcohol, Chris gives in to the persuasion and seduction of his childhood friend and they have sex. Ashamed of what took place he tries to cover up the night and pretend it never happened. He vows that it will never happen again and will do anything to make his wife happy and marriage last. But what happens when his secret is reveled? How will he fix his marriage?

Eliza Dushku plays Alexandria "Alex" Collins, who is a high school guidance counselor. Alex never had the perfect family or home life, unlike Chris did. Her and her older sister helped raise each while their father drank himself to an early grave and their mother was no where to be found. This impacted Alex's life a lot and plays a big part on who she is today. Now she wants to start a family of her own, but is having trouble doing so which is troubling her. It has also put a strain on her relationship with her husband and she doesn't know how to fix it, but wants to try even if that means having a baby is put on hold.

Katie McGrath plays Katherine Davis, the childhood friend of Christopher Collins and the other women. Katherine has always loved Christopher and they even dated a little in high school, but went their separate ways in college, but throughout all of the relationships she has had since then he has remained the only one she has truly loved. When she sees her chance to be with him again, she doesn't hesitate to take it. The next morning, however, is not part of her plan. Christopher reminds her that he is married and he wants to work on his marriage, leaving Katherine alone...again. But what happens when about a month later she finds out she is pregnant?! She has to come clean and tell the truth doesn't she? It's not her fault if Alex doesn't take it well after all.

Melinda Clarke plays Caroline Collins an elite socialite. She, along with Katherine's parents, have tried to set her son and Katherine up since they were a couple. It has been her dream that they end up together. Unfortunately, Chris married a girl from the "wrong side" of the tracks. Caroline hates Alex and does nothing to hide it. When she finds out Katherine is pregnant and Christopher is the father she does everything she can to make sure they will end up together as a family even if that's not what Christopher wants. Will her dream for her son come true? Or will she end up ruining her relationship with her favorite son?

J. August Richards plays Alex's best friend, Jacob "Jake" Donovan. Alex and Jake have been friends since high school and have been through a lot together, both good and bad: dealing with Alex's family life, Jake coming out to his parents about being gay, graduating high school, graduating college, and now an affair. Jake is not only there for Alex for emotional support, but he is also legal support. Jake is a lawyer and has offered to help Alex through this tough time in her life if and when she decides to file for a legal separation and/or divorce.

Bridget Regan plays as Alex's older sister Alicia. She is kind, caring, strong and supportive. She is a kindergarten teacher at the local elementary school and is very close with her younger sister. Due to her childhood, family has become very important to her. Her and her husband of going on 5 years have a three year old daughter and another baby on the way.

Grace Park plays one of Alex's friends, Tara. They met in a self defense class in college, and the rest as they say was history. Tara will play a big part in Alex's support system, mostly because she doesn't take crap from anyone and she likes a good fight. Which is also why her and Alex are such good friends.

Jensen Ackles plays Chris's older brother, Michael. He is pretty much the black sheep of the family since he hasn't settled done and "gotten a real job" according to his parents, or more specifically his mother. He is musician, but also does some construction work to help pay the bills. He is the typical big brother that likes to give Chris a hard time, but really loves him and will stand by him when he really needs it.

Tahmoh Penkitt, plays Chris's best friend and Tara's long time boyfriend, Jason. Jason and Chris met through Tara and Alex's friendship and thankfully managed to become friends. When the affair becomes public, Jason is stuck in the middle as he girlfriend says he needs to support Alex, but the unwritten bro code states that he should be there for Chris. While he knows that what Chris did was completely wrong, he still feels that Chris could use a friend and doesn't know what to do.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays as David, the father to Michael and Chris and husband to Caroline. He is actually a lot more laid back and down to earth than his counterpart. He actually really likes Alex and supports Chris and Alex's relationship. He is really sad and disappointed in his son when news of the affair breaks out.
